The Governor’s office, in collaboration with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), issued Community Mitigation Strategies for slowing down the spread of COVID-19, otherwise known as the Corona Virus following the announcement of confirmed cases in Michigan. I wanted to update you on the work that Convenience Auto is and will be doing to make sure that, as an organization, we stay aware and proactive about this health concern.

Below are a few of the Mitigation Strategies being recommended by the Governor and MDHSS:

  • Learn about the signs and symptoms of COVID-19, which include fever, cough and difficulty breathing. Our employees are being briefed to be vigilant for the symptoms as they relate to yourselves and family members.
  • STAY HOME WHEN YOU ARE SICK, and Individuals at risk of severe illness should consider staying at home to avoid others who are sick.
  • Regularly clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces, such as doorknobs, keyboards, cell phones and light switches.
  • Communicate and reinforce best practices for washing hands and covering coughs and sneezes.
  • Cancel or postpone large gatherings, conferences and sporting events
  • Educate employees and those you come in contact with about COVID-19 and preventative hygiene practices.

We have been listening to local and state agencies, and after discussions and recommendations from these officials, we will begin implementing the following additional actions immediately:

Extracurricular Activities: We will postpone or cancel large company wide training, and company wide social events. We have made the decision to follow this guideline as it relates to our extracurricular events until further notice. We will reassess for future events at a later time. Individual training events will be assessed on a case by case basis.

Disinfecting of high contact areas (Check in counter, waiting room, bathrooms and shuttle bus): The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends cleaning and disinfecting high-touch surfaces to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other viral respiratory illnesses. Our employees have implemented daily disinfecting of check in counters, credit card terminals, computer equipment, bathrooms, waiting rooms and shuttle vehicles on at least a daily basis, and more often when necessary.

Building Cleanliness: In addition to the specific cleaning protocols that are already in place, we will reprioritize our daily cleaning workload to emphasize frequently-touched surfaces (i.e. desktops, tables, doorknobs, and bathrooms), in lieu of non-essential areas (i.e. dusting, light fixtures). In addition to their morning duties, Our employees will be responsible for verifying that the soap dispensers, paper towel dispensers, and hand dryers are full and operational for the duration of the day. Additional hand sanitizer stands and related products are being purchased for the high-traffic areas throughout our buildings, including writeup counters and offices. They will be placed in these locations as soon as they arrive.

We will continue to stress the importance of good hygiene habits and proper hand washing for our employees, and also emphasize the importance of hydration and other CDC Guidelines.

The Center for Disease Control, is regularly updating the resources below with timely and factual information about COVID-19:

Also, the MDHHS has this general fact sheet available to learn more about COVID-19:

We are committed to continuing regular communication as more information becomes available. There are currently no plans for facility closures at this time. We are dedicated to making sure that our working environments remain a safe and healthy place for all of our customers and staff.

Please be patient as we work together to address this health concern in our community. Thank you for your continued support of Convenience Auto Service !

Here are some other important facts regarding the virus that you may find valuable:

The new Coronavirus may not show sign of infection for many days. How can you know if you are infected? By the time you have fever and/or cough and go to the hospital, the lung is usually 50% fibrosis.

Taiwan experts provide a simple self-check that we can do every morning: Take a deep breath and hold it for more than 10 seconds. If you do this successfully without coughing, without discomfort, stiffness or tightness, there is no fibrosis in the lungs; it basically indicates no infection. In critical times, please self-check every morning in an environment with clean air.

Serious excellent advice by Japanese doctors treating COVID-19 cases: Everyone should ensure your mouth & throat are moist, never dry. Take a few sips of water every 15 minutes at least. Why? Even if the virus gets into your mouth, drinking water or other liquids will wash them down through your throat and into the stomach. Once there, your stomach acid will kill all the virus. If you don't drink enough water regularly, the virus can enter your windpipe and then the lungs. That's very dangerous.

Please send and share this with family and friends. Take care everyone and may the world recover from this Coronavirus soon.

  1. If you have a runny nose and sputum, you have a common cold.
  2. Coronavirus pneumonia is a dry cough with no runny nose.
  3. This new virus is not heat-resistant and will be killed by a temperature of just 26/27 degrees C. (About 77 degrees F.) It hates the Sun.
  4. If someone sneezes with it, it goes about 10 feet before it drops to the ground and is no longer airborne.
  5. If it drops on a metal surface it will live for at least 12 hours - so if you come into contact with any metal surface, wash your hands as soon as you can with a bacterial soap.
  6. On fabric it can survive for 6-12 hours. normal laundry detergent will kill it.
  7. Drinking warm water is effective for all viruses. Try not to drink liquids with ice.
  8. Wash your hands frequently as the virus can only live on your hands for 5-10 minutes, but - a lot can happen during that time - you can rub your eyes, pick your nose unwittingly and so on.
  9. You should also gargle as a prevention. A simple solution of salt in warm water will suffice.
  10. Can't emphasis enough - drink plenty of water!
