Mercedes-Benz is a German automobile manufacturer known for its luxurious cars, S.U.Vs, and trucks.  The name traces its origins all the way back to Karl Benz’s 1886 Motorwagon, which is widely considered to be the very first gasoline powered automobile.  In the United States today, Mercedes manufactures the GLE-Class Sport Utility, and the full-sized GL-Class Luxury Sport Utility Vehicle at the Mercedes-Benz U.S. International production facility near Tuscaloosa, Alabama.Mercedes Benz has always had a reputation for quality and durability in its automobiles.  In 2014, a study from Reuters found Mercedes to have the lowest vehicle recall rate.  In 2018, Mercedes-Benz sold the most “premium vehicles” worldwide at 2.31 million.

Mercedes-Benz, while known for the luxury consumer automobile, has also made its mark in motorsport, most notably in Formula One Racing.  Mercedes was successful engine supplier with word championships in 1954 and 1955 for Juan-Manuel Fangio (who many still consider to be the best F1 Racer ever).  Mercedes left after the 1955 world championship until they decided to come back as an engine supplier in the 1990s.
