Mike Maloney was born in Ann Arbor, and has stayed close to Ann Arbor most of his life. Mike earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and an MBA from The University of Michigan before spending 30 years in the corporate world. He was most recently a division president at D&M Holdings, the owners of legendary Hi-Fi brands like McIntosh Labs, Boston Acoustics, Denon, and Marantz. Prior to that, Mike worked for Ford Motor Company, Visteon, and other auto suppliers, where he learned about cars from an engineer's perspective. . . Mike's experience at Ford included both hardware and software design for engine and chassis electronic controls, systems and sensors. Over the course of his extensive career, he has visited and developed personal relationships with engineers at nearly every domestic, Asian and European OEM.
Mike always wanted to own his own business, and is currently living out his dream!
John Mills was initially referred to our shop by his wife, Jackie, who was working across the street at the time! John has been with us since moving to the US in 2005. He brings a ton of experience to our shop from three different GM (Opel) dealers in Europe.
John started out with a natural curiosity about machines, and began a formal apprenticeship in Ireland at age 15. John takes pride in really listening to customers, and putting a smile on their faces when he is able to repair a car that some other shop couldn't.
Even when he is not at work, John enjoys working on four wheeled vehicles. His hobby is restoring garden tractors and farm equipment. John enjoys the rural life outside Ann Arbor with his wife Jackie and two daughters Ashleigh and Molly.
Saying that Corky Zaron his had a lifelong love of automobiles is a massive understatement. Corky first met Lou Lippert back in the 1970's at the Schoolcraft College Sports Car Club. They have kept in touch ever since. Corky has been helping AAA car owners with their vehicles for many years, and he decided to join us in early 2014.
Corky is our company expert on Volvo vehicles, and is extremely knowledgeable not only about the technical attributes of those vehicles, but the history of the company as well. When he's not thinking about cars, Corky still likes to go fast. He enjoys long rides on his bicycle and speed skating. He also enjoys coaching young skaters, and helps coach a girls' roller derby team!
Steve Savela served eight years in the US Navy (aviation maintenance) and worked as a design and release engineer prior to getting involved in being a service writer. Steve brings a plethora of mechanical knowledge and decades of shop management experience to Convenience Auto. Steve likes the culture at Convenience Auto, and being part of a great team. Military and civilian experience has taken Steve around the world three times, and he's been on every continent. Steve tells us he was "born and raised" in a full service gas station! When he is not thinking about cars, Steve enjoys working on home renovations, playing golf, and riding his motorcycle.
Nathan Couturier is the youngest member of our staff. He joined us in 2014 as a technician trainee. We were initially attracted to Nathan because of his outstanding attitude and willingness to learn. Nathan says "I give 100% on every job, and I like helping out customers any way I can."
"I want to be the best." Nathan enjoys working with his dad, who is a master technician on our staff. He is proud to work for a company that prides itself in customer satisfaction - his version of the 'golden rule'.
Nathan was an avid skateboarder in his younger days, but now prefers spending spare time playing with his 2 year old daughter, and playing rhythm / lead guitar.
William "Ed" Moore
William "Ed" Moore is in his fifth year at Convenience Auto. He enjoys working on Asian vehicles, especially Toyota and Honda. Ed participated in sprint go-kart racing in the early eighties. He placed #1 in the east section of the World Karting Association - two years in a row! When not working on cars, he enjoys travel, cruises, and shooting sports. Ed appreciates the family values we live out each day at Convenience Auto, and appreciates that we treat our customers like family, too. Ed has strong family ties and recently brought his oldest son into the business. He enjoys coaching and watching him grow and learn to be a top-flight technician like his dad.
Doug Rasmussen serves as our general service technician, shuttle driver and all around go-to guy. He left the local Subaru dealer to join Convenience Auto in 2007. He brings a host of knowledge and good ideas to our shop.
Doug's love of cars started in high school, and he considers himself lucky to turn his hobby and love of people into a job that he enjoys.
When he is not at work, Doug enjoys camping in his RV, and 'kicking back'.
